The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together. ~Erma Bombeck

Tess's First Bath
I didn't get to take an actual picture of her first bath at home, since she was so frantic and I had multiple other children trying to "help." It was exhausting enough for her that she fell fast asleep as soon as she was bundled in her towel.

Tess Elizabeth Johnson
We welcomed Tess Elizabeth into our family at 6:39 p.m. on July 6, 2011. She weighed in at 7lbs. 15 oz. and was 18.5 inches. We are all in absolute love. She is the final addition to the Johnson clan, and could not be more perfect. Our wonderful family of six is now complete!

More Birthday Celebration on the 4th!
Saturday, July 2, 2011
Happy 5th, Darling!
Kris and Ethan made Kate breakfast for her birthday. They are great cooks, with no sense of style. This would explain why the Christmas table cloth that was used : )!! |
Time for presents! |
And the Birthday cake! Kate wanted a castle cake again, so Mom slaved away on it all day. Little did I know Ivy would devour 1/2 of it hours later ... |
Closing celebrations include fireworks, of course! |
I cannot believe that our baby girl is five years old! She is everything that one could ask for in a daughter and so much more. She has a love for life like no other. At the age of 5, she loves making bouquets for mom and dad, hunting for worms and other creepy crawlers, drawing for hours, taking care of all animals, singing in her own made-up languages, and taking care of her many, many baby dolls that are so real to her they have become members of our family. She loves to fish, garden, and play outdoors. She has outgrown Little Bear and has a new obsession with Sponge Bob (*tear). She is not afraid of blood and vows that she will be an "Aminal Doctor" and a mom when she grows up. She has a bizarre interest for the darker side of life. She is not afraid of ghosts or spooky things, in fact, she is very interested in such topics. She really enjoys Tim Burton films and has decided that she wants to be the Corpse Bride for Halloween this year ... of course, she wants to be Rapunzel next year! She makes our everyday a little brighter and we can not imagine our lives without her. We are truly blessed. Happy Birthday, Kate!
